Rumor has it that Tesla's Texas factory is suspending production

Publish Date: 2023.09.23

According to foreign media reports, Tesla has suspended production of Cyberrack and Model Y at its Austin, Texas, super factory in the United States. Some believe that the factory's shutdown may continue until the end of September.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Tesla will suspend production at its Texas factory to upgrade its assembly lines 2 and 3. Recently, drone photographer Joe Tegtmeyer reiterated this point on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and added that he believes the factory may suspend production of Cyberrack and Model Y until the end of September.

In the second quarter financial report, Tesla revealed that due to the planned shutdown and upgrading of the factory, Tesla's production in the third quarter will slightly decrease. However, Tesla reiterated its plan to deliver approximately 1.8 million vehicles this year.

In addition, Tegtmeyer also pointed out that his recent video shows that there are more employee vehicles parked in the parking lot of Tesla's Texas factory, and he believes that the company is conducting additional testing, training, and calibration work. It is reported that Tesla's Texas factory was found to have exported a large number of Cybertrucks from the factory. Recently, Tesla CEO Musk and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rode in a Cybertruck.

Tegtmeyer also reiterated the delivery status of new production equipment at the Texas factory in recent weeks, including two robot production equipment for the Cyberrack production line. He also pointed out other engineering projects of the factory, including steel structure engineering for production line end facilities, CFA pile foundation drilling engineering, and River Road extension renewal engineering.

Currently, Tesla is still conducting pre production for the upcoming Cyberrack. Tesla also needs to obtain collision test results and qualification certificates from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in order to officially release Cybertruck.
