According to Electric, the Supervisory Board of Mercedes Benz Group has extended its contract with CEO Ola K ä llenius for 5 years in advance until May 21, 2029. In addition, the supervisory board has extended the contract of Chief Technology Officer Markus Sch ä fer.

In early July, foreign media reported that Mercedes Benz would extend Conlinson's contract to 2029 "this summer". At that time, foreign media pointed out that Kang Linsong's current contract would expire in May 2024. Just a few weeks later, the Mercedes Benz supervisory board decided to re appoint Conlinson and Markus Sch ä fer.

Kang Linsong's new contract is valid until May 21, 2029, while Sch ä fer's contract is extended until May 21, 2026. It is worth mentioning that Sch ä fer's relatively short renewal period is mainly related to the age requirement for board members decided by the supervisory board in 2022.

At the time, the Mercedes Benz supervisory board wrote, "Members who were at least 58 or 59 years old at the time of the contract shall have a term of no more than two years; from the age of 60, the term of office shall not exceed one year. However, the contract can be extended multiple times." It is reported that Kang Linsong is currently 54 years old, and Sch ä fer is currently 58 years old.
