Since the beginning of this year, relevant national and local departments have continuously issued policies to support new energy heavy trucks and promote their rapid development.
In April 2023, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the General Administration of Customs, the National Railway Administration, and the State Railway Group jointly issued the Action Plan for Promoting the High Quality Development of Water Railway Intermodal Transport (2023-2025), which clearly states that by 2025, 80% of major coastal ports such as Beijing Tianjin Hebei and its surrounding areas, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area will use port dredging waterways, railways, closed belt corridors, and new energy vehicles to transport bulk goods, The high-quality development of rail water intermodal transportation has entered the fast lane. With the implementation of the plan, the application of new energy heavy trucks to transport bulk goods has become an inevitable choice for major coastal ports.
On May 9th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly issued a notice on the implementation of the National VI Emission Standards for automobiles. The notice shows that starting from July 1, 2023, the national level will fully implement the 6b stage of the National VI Emission Standards, and prohibit the production, import, and sale of vehicles that do not meet the 6b stage of the National VI Emission Standards. The elimination and upgrading of fuel heavy trucks will accelerate the pace of logistics and transportation enterprises using new energy heavy trucks to replace fuel heavy trucks.
At the local level, Chongqing, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, Shanghai, Shanxi, Henan, Hainan and other provinces, autonomous regions and cities issued policies to promote new energy heavy trucks and give road rights and financial subsidies. In local cities, Zhuhai, Chengdu, Xuchang, Shanghai, Chongqing, Beijing and other places have continuously issued policies on new energy, promoted the construction of charging and swapping power stations, and supported the promotion and application of new energy heavy-duty trucks.
Hot Delivery Market Continues to Rise
From January to April 2023, the sales of new energy heavy-duty trucks in the market achieved high year-on-year growth in February, March, and April, except for January, which was not ideal due to various reasons. Especially in April, it surged by 106%, making the growth of new energy heavy-duty trucks unstoppable.
Entering May, the new energy heavy-duty truck market is booming, and major car companies are busy delivering and signing contracts, resulting in a great situation.
In early May, 100 Dongfeng Liuqi Chenglong new energy heavy-duty trucks were delivered to a steel company in Handan, helping the company achieve zero carbon upgrading. It is reported that in October 2022, the company has purchased 300 new energy heavy-duty trucks of the same model, and with the addition of the vehicles purchased this time, a total of 400 have been purchased.
On May 12th, the first batch of Beiben New Energy Ultra Strong Edition tractors were delivered to a major steel group in Hebei.
On May 18, XCMG New Energy held the delivery ceremony of one hundred Dump truck of XCMG New Energy and the opening ceremony of 4S stores in Southwest China in Chengdu, "Jointly building a 'green Tianfu' with zero carbon technology". At the event site, XCMG New Energy signed a contract for 200 vehicles and delivered 100 vehicles.
On May 18, the new energy industry exchange meeting with the theme of "dual carbon pilot green future" and the delivery ceremony of 100 Dump truck of XCMG New Energy&Anshan Supply and Marketing Group were held in Anshan, Liaoning. At the event site, XCMG New Energy delivered 100 pure electric Dump truck to customers again. It is reported that this is the first major order of 100 new energy heavy-duty trucks in the Northeast region.
On May 18th, at the 2023 "Electric Sichuan" New Energy Vehicle Supply and Demand Docking Conference, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Chengdu Wangpai Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. signed strategic cooperation projects with numerous cooperative units and customers in the industry chain regarding the distribution of new energy heavy truck research and development, component procurement, charging and swapping implementation equipment, as well as the procurement of all new energy vehicle models. The total amount of intended procurement projects is approximately 5.7 billion yuan.
On May 23, the delivery of electrified products and the signing ceremony of 500 electric tractors of Central Yunnan Lucky Logistics Group&Sany Group were held in Qujing, Yunnan. The first batch of 130 electric tractors, 11 electric Dump truck and 5 electric mixers of Sany were delivered to customers, and will be fully invested in Chenggang and Central Yunnan Lucky Logistics transportation projects. This is the largest delivery and ordering of new energy heavy-duty trucks in the Southwest region.
On May 24th, the delivery ceremony of GCL's first batch of 1000 Beiben Mobile Energy heavy-duty trucks was held in Shanghai. It is reported that in April, Beiben Heavy Duty Truck reached a strategic cooperation agreement with GCL Group. The two sides actively promoted the implementation of new energy project indicators in Baotou around the autonomous region's "new energy projects".
On May 26, 100 electric mixers of Sany Heavy Industry were delivered to Chongqing Sifang New Material for operation. The Sany Chongqing Xinke Replacement Power Station delivered this time is the first concrete pilot scenario of Sany Lithium in Chongqing. After the station is put into operation, it will reduce 340000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, saving nearly 50% of operating costs per vehicle. A single station can serve 80-120 vehicles, with a single replacement time of only 1.9 minutes, greatly improving transportation efficiency.
On May 29th, the clean transportation and operation ceremony of Zhang Xuan Technology&Hegang Industrial Technology Plant and the delivery ceremony of Ouman Zhilan pure electric heavy truck were held in Xuanhua. At the event site, a total of 45 Ouman Zhilan pure electric heavy trucks were delivered to customers, including 18 tractors and 27 Dump truck, all of which are 282kWh high-performance pure electric heavy trucks integrated with charging and changing electricity.
On May 31st, the global first batch delivery press conference of DeepWay's first product "DeepWay · Deep Star", a new force in truck manufacturing, was held in Hefei. It is reported that "DeepWay · Deep Star" is China's first fully forward designed and developed intelligent new energy heavy-duty truck.
In May, Volvo Trucks won a large order of 1000 electric heavy trucks, and will deliver 1000 electric trucks to Holcim Group. In the middle and late May, Volvo Trucks has signed a letter of intent. From now on to the end of 2030, Volvo Trucks will sell 1000 electric heavy trucks to Holcim, the world's largest supplier of building materials. This is the largest commercial order for electric heavy trucks of Volvo Trucks so far, and the first 130 electric heavy trucks will be delivered for use from 2023 to 2024.

Win the long-distance scenario of new energy heavy trucks to welcome new growth
In addition to the delivery boom in the short haul transportation scenario, new energy heavy trucks have also made breakthroughs in long-distance scenarios. Recently, various new energy heavy-duty truck manufacturers have accelerated the update and iteration speed of new products, launched new energy heavy-duty trucks that can "run" long-distance transportation, opened up the "long-distance" transportation market, and achieved good economic results.
On May 30th, Remote New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group launched the first domestically developed new energy heavy truck digital intelligent architecture GXA-T at a press conference, and released a remote Xinghan G series heavy truck based on the new architecture. It is reported that the remote Xinghan G super electric heavy-duty truck achieves a 500km regional trunk line BEV solution, perfectly meeting the operational rhythm of short switching and regional trunk line users. The remote Xinghan G super alcohol electric hybrid heavy-duty truck meets the needs of medium to long distance MEV solutions, with a range of over 1500 kilometers.
On May 31st, at the global first batch delivery press conference of "DeepWay · Shenxiang Star", DeepWay showcased to the outside world a wonderful video of "Shenxiang Star" vehicles fully loaded with 49 tons, working together with a "oil to electricity" heavy truck to complete the entire distance of 1119 kilometers between Beijing and Shanghai. It is reported that this is the first time the industry has applied pure electric heavy trucks to long-distance transportation tasks. According to DeepWay data, Shenxiang Star has obvious advantages of low energy consumption under full load (about 49 tons), including 136.4 kWh of electric energy consumption per hundred kilometers, and its charging efficiency has increased by 22% compared with similar electric heavy trucks, with obvious economic performance.
On June 5, at the launch conference of Yutong Heavy Truck's new series of products, Yutong Heavy Truck's new large capacity bottom replacement electric tractor was equipped with 513 kilowatt hour bottom batteries, with a full battery life of more than 340 kilometers. The 4-minute quick power change broke the high-speed operating mileage limit of Battery electric vehicle.
On June 6th, the "One Charge, Battle 800KM" Sany Magic Tower 1165 electric tractor made its debut on the road, achieving complete success and successfully proving that electric heavy-duty trucks can "run" 800 kilometers. According to data from Sany, the Sany Magic Tower 1165 electric tractor has a single charging range of 817.5 kilometers and an average energy consumption of 1.17 kWh/km with a total weight of 40.45 tons of vehicle and cargo.
The economy of electric heavy-duty trucks for long-distance transportation has been verified, and the TCO (comprehensive total cost) of electric heavy-duty trucks is very eye-catching in the current period of insufficient cargo volume and low freight rates, providing more choices for express logistics and transportation enterprises.
