Will the change of command of Volkswagen group change the pace of electrification of Volkswagen? At present, it seems that the impact is not great, and it may even accelerate.
Last week, Oliver Blume, the new CEO of Volkswagen Group, said at an internal meeting in Lisbon that Volkswagen would accelerate its transformation to electric vehicles, but it needed to find the right "rhythm" in the transformation process.
He formulated a ten point plan, focusing on financial soundness, sustainability, capital market and market development in China and North America.
Bloom said: "as a fan of electric cars, I support this road... We will maintain the current speed and increase the speed if possible."
Volkswagen aims to surpass Tesla and become the largest electric vehicle in the world by 2025. By 2030, half of its global automobile sales will be pure electric vehicles.
Bloom has been the chief executive of Porsche since 2015 and has always been an advocate of sustainable fuel. When he took the helm of Volkswagen Group, outsiders questioned whether he would play down the strong concern of his predecessor Herbert diess about pure trams.
Earlier, in an interview with German media, he said that electrification was still "the main topic of Porsche". In his speech in Lisbon, he added that Volkswagen must find the right rhythm of stable transformation by defining and implementing clear strategies.
Sources said bloom was seen as a leader who was calmer and more consensus driven than his predecessor. His predecessor, dees, was famous for his radical strategy. During his term of office, conflicts with the trade union intensified.
Bloom will also take over the responsibilities of cariad, the software department that was set up under the supervision of dees but is far behind its goals.
He said in an interview that the software department may be more open to partnerships.
