BYD's sales in 2022 can be said to be a blowout, and it has won the first place in the new energy passenger vehicle sales list for several consecutive months. However, many popular BYD models have the problem of long waiting periods. Recently, First Electric Power Network learned from relevant channels that BYD's factory in Xi'an has begun to expand its Phase IV plant, and the annual capacity of BYD's factory in Xi'an may exceed one million in the future.

Since BYD acquired Xi'an Qinchuan Automobile Factory in 2003 and obtained the vehicle production license, it has officially settled in Xi'an High tech Zone. Since then, it has continuously expanded its investment and successively arranged the whole industry chain business of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, electronics, auto finance, rail transit and power batteries. Xi'an has become BYD's northern headquarters base.

As Wang Chuanfu, BYD's chairman and president, said: Xi'an is the city with the most comprehensive layout and the most extensive business cooperation, except for its headquarters in Shenzhen.

BYD Phase IV covers a total area of 2000 mu on both sides of Caotang Road 4 (formerly No. 8 Road in Huxian County), with a railway freight station planned around. The project can be completed as soon as June 2023. The current annual capacity of Phase I and Phase II can reach 600000 vehicles. After the expansion and increase of production, the annual capacity of Phase III will reach 900000 vehicles, which is expected to become the first super factory of BYD that can produce more than 1 million vehicles annually.

In 2021, the person in charge of Xi'an BYD Industrial Park said: "BYD's new energy vehicle production capacity in Xi'an has reached 1700-2000 units per day and 600000 units per year. The blade battery production capacity has reached 20GWH per year. By 2022, BYD's total output value in Xi'an will reach 100 billion!" This means that the output value of BYD Xi'an will be equivalent to that of Tesla Shanghai in 2021.
