BMW's global sales fell 13.3%

However, thanks to the popularity of its pure electric models, the BMW Group sold a total of 75,891 BMW and MINI pure electric vehicles worldwide in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 110.3%.

In terms of brands, with a wide range of high-tech products and innovative drive technologies, the BMW brand sold a total of 1,016,541 vehicles globally in the first half of the year, a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%. Among them, the BMW 4 Series models performed particularly well, with sales increasing by more than half year-on-year to 58,805 units. The MINI brand delivered 140,711 vehicles to customers in the first half of the year, down 10.9 percent year-on-year. Rolls-Royce sales rose 6.8% year-on-year to 3,191 vehicles in the first half of the year.



From a market perspective, the BMW Group sold a total of 378,727 BMW and MINI vehicles in China in the first half of the year, a year-on-year decrease of 18.9%, but its pure electric vehicle sales in China increased by 74.8% year-on-year.


The BMW Group delivered 164,626 BMW and MINI vehicles in the U.S., down 10.3 percent year over year. U.S.-made SUV sales rose 8.1 percent from a year earlier to 92,716, helped by high demand.


The BMW and MINI brands sold 433,989 vehicles in Europe in the first half of the year, down 13.9% year-on-year. The BMW and MINI brands registered 124,350 units in Germany, of which pure electric vehicle registrations rose 30.8% year-on-year to 15,064 units. These figures put the group ahead of its competitors in the European market.


In addition, the BMW Group aims to more than double its pure electric vehicle sales by 2022, a goal the group expects to achieve in the second half of the year.
