Publish Date: 2021.12.25

In November, Toyota sold 774,143 vehicles worldwide, a decrease of 9.2% from the same period last year. Although the decline has been for the third consecutive month, the decline has slowed.

According to foreign media reports, on December 24, Toyota Motor stated that in November, the company’s global car production was 821,329, a decrease of 0.8% year-on-year and almost restored to the level of the same period last year. In the previous few months, due to the new crown epidemic affecting the supply of parts and components, Toyota's production has fallen sharply year-on-year.

Among them, Toyota's car production in Japan decreased by 7.9% year-on-year to 275,234 units, and its overseas production was 546,095 units, an increase of 3.2% year-on-year.

Toyota said that the recovery of auto production reflects the ease of tightness in the supply of parts in Southeast Asia. Toyota also said that although the company's global production fell for the fourth consecutive month in November, the decline in production has slowed down compared with the double-digit year-on-year declines in September and October.

In the same month, Toyota sold 774,143 vehicles globally, a decrease of 9.2% from the same period last year. Although the decline has been for the third consecutive month, the decline has slowed down. Among them, Toyota's sales in Japan decreased by 18.5% year-on-year to 116,370 units, and its overseas sales decreased by 7.3% year-on-year to 657,773 units.

Due to the spread of the new crown epidemic, factories in Southeast Asia have stopped production, resulting in shortages of chips and other parts, and Toyota and other automakers have been forced to cut production. The shortage of chips is also affected by the rising consumer demand for electronic products. During the epidemic, more and more people are staying at home. Chip supply bottlenecks mean that many customers have to wait for months to deliver vehicles to dealers.

Toyota maintains its global production target of 9 million vehicles for the current fiscal year (2021.4.1-2022.3.31). At the same time, it expects that the monthly production target for December and next January will be around 800,000.
