Michelin already produces about 400, 000 surgical masks a week.

    Since the outbreak of the new outbreak, countries around the world are racing against time to produce anti-epidemic supplies, especially to increase the production capacity of masks.In response to this demand, the Michelin group is rapidly mobilising its innovation capabilities and expertise in research, materials and manufacturing to develop, mass-produce and deliver a wide range of masks in a short period of time.Through this round of action, Michelin will donate more masks to health workers in the countries and regions where it operates, while protecting the safety and health of its employees and helping to combat the new global epidemic.

    Michelin has so far selected 10 of its plants in Europe for the production of surgical masks.At the start of the campaign, Michelin will be working with partners and subcontractors to produce about 400,000 surgical masks a week.Mask production will expand further in the coming weeks as the campaign moves forward in North America.

    It is worth mentioning that Michelin is also involved with other companies in the design and promotion of reusable masks.The mask is called "OCOV ®" and is of type FMP1 / FMP2, developed and manufactured in France.Each mask is provided with 5 washable filters for reuse, which can be used 100 times in total. The average cost is low.The first prototype of 5,000 masks is now in production, with a target of 1m a week by may.By the end of June, total production of such masks is expected to exceed 5 million, equivalent to 500 million disposable surgical masks for medical use.

    Michelin is also producing sterile polycarbonate masks for medical staff at the request of several hospitals in France, with the production of 10,000 masks to be carried out as early as next week.

    Recently, the Michelin group has been actively involved in a number of projects related to the production of anti-epidemic materials, including respirators, medical equipment components, patient positioning pads and hand sanitizers.
