In June, foreign media Electrek obtained a recording of a company-wide meeting held by Musk, where he confirmed that Tesla was considering a site for a new factory in North America, while Musk hinted at Canada. And at Tesla's annual shareholder meeting on August 4, Musk mentioned it again. Additionally, Tesla is lobbying the Ontario government and seeking possible incentives for "advanced manufacturing facilities."

Now, Tesla has met François-Philippe Champagne again. Foreign media Electrek believes that it is not impossible for Tesla to build a factory in Canada.

Canada is emerging as a production hub for electric vehicles and batteries. General Motors and Posco have established a $400 million electric vehicle battery cathode materials plant in Bécancour. In the same area, Livent will process lithium and Nouveau Monde Graphite will process graphite, both of which will be used in electric vehicle battery production. In Shawinigan, Quebec, Flo is building an electric vehicle charging station.

The Quebec region is also known for cheap hydropower, and the Quebec government is investing more than $1 billion in projects related to battery production.

Foreign media Electrek believes that if Tesla finally decides to build a super factory in Canada, it may be somewhere between the Greater Toronto Area and the Morris/Quebec center.
